Dal - Lentil : The Wholesome and Delicious Indian Dish

Ingredients:
1 cup of lentils (any variety)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, pureed
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, grated
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1 teaspoon of garam masala
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:-
Wash the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
In a pressure cooker, heat the oil and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for another minute.
Now, add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pressure cooker along with turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
Add enough water to cover the lentils and close the pressure cooker.
Cook on medium heat for about 10-12 minutes or until the lentils are soft and cooked.
Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give the lentils a good stir.
Sprinkle garam masala on top and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot with rice or Indian bread.
